Stange & Co. are a well established family owned and operated pub restaurant business with a £10m+ turnover, based in Parkgate on the Wirral, 10 miles from Chester. We're an expanding family pub company, with pubs across the Wirral & Wales. We fully appreciate that our pubs are only as good as our teams in them and the support we give them. This support comes from our office based at The Ship in Parkgate.
Job Description
We're looking for a creative and talented chef with experience to at least sous level, who is looking for a progressive and challenging role in a bustling kitchen. Your role will involve being flexible and travelling to any of our 4 Wirral sites, leading sections and generally assisting the teams with the day-to day operation of our kitchens, so you must be able to work well as one of the team. You must also have the ability to get on with anyone and everyone as the job will take you from kitchen to kitchen working with lots of different chefs, managers and front of house teams. Our chefs create their own menus and always welcome ideas from the whole of the team. We are well known for serving the finest of fresh locally sourced produce and our regularly changing menus reflect this.
Previous experience of working in similar kitchens is essential as we know you’ll have the attitude and work ethos we’re looking for – an experienced chef who shares our love of everything foody and brings passion and flair to the kitchen.

What we're looking for:
We are looking for a group support chef with bags of enthusiasm, a passion for working with fresh local ingredients and a healthy helping of flair and creativity to help support our kitchen teams. Fine dining, we are not, but quality well executed fresh food is very much what we’re about. Our food is fresh, hearty and interesting, with a menu that reflects the seasons & our location, which helps ensures sustainability and prevents our customers and kitchen team getting bored. Our constantly evolving menus are a combination of well-loved classics and more interesting dishes taking influence from all over the world.
Whilst our plan is very much to grow, this will be well considered, and opportunity led growth. We’re certainly not striving to hit a number at any cost and then sell out to private equity or a big plc. We’re in it for the long term, as we have been for the last 100 years or so….
Due to our size you’ll very much be part of the family and not just a number, but thankfully we’re big enough to be able to offer support as and when the need arises.
A genuine love of food, attention to detail, and experience of a busy high-volume kitchen at sous chef level is vital.
